GUA SHA MASSAGE · SUNNYVALE
Gua sha massage in Sunnyvale for shoulders, back & legs.
Smooth gua sha strokes are paired with massage for broad, tired areas through the neck, shoulders, back, hips and legs.
START WITH HOW IT FEELS
Precision without aggressive scraping.
Oil and a smooth-edged tool allow controlled strokes across selected muscular areas. Technique and pressure are adapted to the body rather than repeated at one fixed intensity.
Broad-area focus
Useful when the back or legs feel generally dense and tired rather than limited to one small knot.
Paired with massage
Hands-on work prepares the area and remains central to the session.
Skin-aware technique
We adjust or avoid gua sha around irritation, broken skin, recent procedures and other sensitivities.
BODY AREAS & MUSCLE FOCUS
Body gua sha with a clear muscular focus.
Describe shoulder pain, a tired lower back or broad leg tightness in your own words. Body gua sha uses a smooth tool alongside massage; technique and pressure depend on the region and skin sensitivity.
Shoulders & upper back
Upper trapezius is at the top of the shoulders, and rhomboids lie between the shoulder blades. These are regions to discuss when screen work or repeated reaching leaves the upper back feeling tense.
Back, waist & glutes
The erector spinae muscles run beside the spine, with gluteal muscles below at the buttocks and outer hips. A back-focused massage can include appropriate tool work around selected muscular areas.
Front & back of the legs
Quadriceps cover the front of the thighs, hamstrings the back, and gastrocnemius and soleus the calves. Tell us which region feels sore after standing, walking or training so the session stays specific.
How does your workday feel in your body?
Salon work, clinical tasks, repetitive reaching and standing shifts can leave different areas feeling overworked. Desk workers may prefer shoulders and upper back, while guests on their feet may prioritize thighs and calves.
FOCUSED CARE + FULL-BODY RELAXATION
Focused gua sha, broader relaxation
Body gua sha can focus on selected shoulder, back, hip or leg areas while hands-on massage connects the remaining areas. A longer appointment allows gentler, unhurried full-body work.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Prepare, focus, then settle.
Choose the priority area
Select one or two regions and tell us about skin sensitivity or medications that affect bruising.
Massage prepares the tissue
Oil and hands-on work create a comfortable base before the tool is introduced.
Controlled finishing strokes
The therapist adjusts direction, pace and pressure, then closes with calming massage.

Clear answers before you book.
Can body gua sha focus on back and calf tightness after work?+
Yes, if the areas and skin are suitable. Your therapist can combine massage with gentle, controlled tool strokes on selected regions. Tell us about skin sensitivity and whether you need to avoid visible redness or marks.
Can gua sha leave redness or marks?+
Yes. Temporary redness or discoloration can occur and varies by person. Tell us if you want a gentler approach or need to avoid visible marks.
Is body gua sha the same as facial gua sha?+
No. This page describes body-focused work for larger muscular areas. Facial gua sha uses much lighter pressure and a different booking option.
Who should check before booking?+
Tell us about blood thinners, easy bruising, skin conditions, recent procedures, pregnancy or other relevant health concerns. When appropriate, ask your healthcare professional first.
Is this medical treatment?+
No. Lyra Spa provides wellness massage for muscular relaxation, everyday comfort and recovery support. We do not diagnose or treat medical conditions. Sudden, severe, worsening or neurological symptoms should be evaluated by a healthcare professional.
Should I choose 60, 90 or 120 minutes?+
Choose 60 minutes for one clear priority, 90 minutes for a priority area plus connected areas or full-body work, and 120 minutes when several areas need unhurried attention.
Where do I park?+
Free parking is available behind the building. Lyra Spa is the second shop on the right. Please arrive 5–10 minutes early for your first visit.
